SWAT Engineering  F-Gas Complete Compliance for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipment

The newest F–Gas regulations became a law on the 4th July, 2006 with the majority
of measures taking effect on the 4th July, 2007. The regulation addresses containment, use, recovery, destruction, reporting, labelling, training, certification and some placing on the market prohibits fluorinated gases.

From the 4th July 2011 it became a legal requirement for all businesses that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump equipment containing or designed to contain F-Gas refrigerants to obtain a FULL F-Gas company certificate. It is now a criminal offence to carry out the above without a company certificate.
Also from the 4th July 2011 it became a legal requirement that all engineers that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and  heat pump equipment containing or designed to contain F gas refrigerants require to have completed the F Gas Handling assessment and hold a City and Guild 2079 (or CITB equivalent) qualification.

Training and Qualifications

SWAT Engineering holds a Full REFCOM Certification and all engineers are trained and qualified to all F-Gas standards. To download a copy of our  REFCOM Certificate click here.

Labeling and Record Keeping

All systems are given an asset number and all necessary information and details are taken including system, type of application, location, model number, serial number, refrigeration type and refrigerant weight. This information is then recorded onto our database.

Leak Checking and Containment

Routine leak tests are carried out at our maintenance visits throughout the year. The number of leak checks that is carried out is depended on the volume of refrigerant in the system. A leak check certificate is then provided, signed by the engineer who performed check along with the details of the engineer’s refrigerant handling qualification and the date when the check was carried out.

Leak Repairs and 30 days Follow Up Checks

If a leak is repaired on a system our engineers would fill in a Refrigerant Log whilst on site. This would state the engineers name and refrigerant handling qualification number, date, system type, the asset number, refrigerant type, leak location and the date the follow up leak check is due by. A copy of the Refrigeration Log is then presented to the customer onsite and the information is then logged onto our database.

If a leak is repaired on a system or the refrigerant circuits is broken into i.e. to replace a component, then a follow up check is required within 30 days is to ensure that the system remains gas tight and gas free. The Refrigerant log would state the date when the follow up check is due by and we would arrange with the client for this check to be carried out.

Refrigerant Recovery

When any refrigerant is recovered from a system, our engineer would fill in a Refrigerant Log whilst onsite. This would state the engineers name and refrigerant handling qualification number, date, system type, the asset number, refrigerant type, amount of refrigerant removed and serial number of the bottle is was recovered to. A copy of the Refrigerant Log is then presented to the customer onsite and the information is then logged onto our database.

Refrigerant Charging

When any refrigerant is charged into a system, our engineer would fill in a Refrigerant Log whilst on site. This would state the engineers name and refrigerant handling qualification number, date, system type, the asset number, refrigerant type and amount of refrigerant charged into the system. A copy of the Refrigerant Log is then presented to the customer onsite and the information is then logged onto our database.

Documentation

After each maintenance visit to a site a full engineers report is provided along with a Refrigerant Data Log stating all relevant system information and a Leak Check Certificate.
